Strings Of Emotion

I used oil painting on canvas to bring out the realism of the painting, of the message I want to convey to the audience; that pain and suffering is simply an ordinary part of life, it's inevitable, and is able to come from something as small as playing an instrument. I’ve been playing the guitar since I was 7 years old, I found it to be a meaningful inspiration to create this piece of art.

Heart Of Thorns

Despite a heart not being able to physically break, mine felt as though it had been sharply pierced. My move to Singapore was one that I was not ready for. After having built relationships so close and to have grown up with the people I met in my previous school, it was hard to accept that after 6 years I would have to say goodbye. Blue and white makes heartbreak seem common, it happens to everyone and it is simply a part of life.”

Green Symphony

The conflict between man and nature inspired me to create this acrylic painting, that the constructs of mankind can go hand in hand with the destructive forces of waves. The shades of green encapsulates the floral tone, while the purple symbolizes the darkness of our beautiful naturalistic night.

Pt. 2

I painted Heart of Thorns, but I changed the colours. The result is more abstract.

Man & Nature

A symphony between man and nature. “Man and nature belong together in their created glory-in their tragedy and in their salvation” - Paul Tillich.  Portraying how both man and nature work hand in hand and are codependent on each other for survival, the branches were used to outline the image of a pair of lungs whilst the effect of the leaves were to convey the liveliness of the lung, without the leaves it would look like a dead pair of lungs, however with the leaves, with nature, the lungs function perfectly fine.

Theory Of Evolution

A theory of evolution triptych that explains the evolution of life and how both man and nature have changed and progressed over time. A revolutionary understanding of life on Earth through the unification of men and nature that assists in explaining the diversity of all living organisms.

Absent Presence

Inspired by grief and loss, a painting that depicts the absence of a loved one. The blue sofa reminds me of a family member who passed away as he used to spend time on an identical sofa. The vines are repeated in the background however they may also represent a cloud like image, like heaven

Lifelessness

I believe that the emptiness of the trees symbolizes the destruction of nature. Taking inspiration from this, I created a string based piece of art to capture the fragility of nature and how mankind plays a role in hollowing nature’s presence. This further symbolizes global deforestation as trees are cut down by the millions, leaving nothing left but a hollow presence once there for animals and natural habitats.
